The Oslo to Bergen Train Journey

One of the highlights of our trip was traveling on the famous train from Oslo to Bergen.

As the train wound its way through towering mountains, sparkling lakes, waterfalls, and charming villages, we found ourselves glued to the windows. Every turn revealed another breathtaking view. It felt like stepping into the pages of a storybook.

For children, this journey becomes an adventure all on its own. There is something magical about watching the landscape change from bustling city streets to peaceful countryside. It is a reminder that sometimes slowing down is the best way to truly experience a place.

Stepping Back in Time at Norsk Folkemuseum

One of our favorite family stops was the Norsk Folkemuseum in Oslo.

Walking through the open-air museum felt like traveling through Norway's history. Traditional farmhouses, wooden buildings, and the beautiful Stave Church gave us a glimpse into how families lived generations ago.

For children, history becomes much more meaningful when they can walk through it, touch it, and imagine themselves living there. We talked about daily life, family traditions, and how many of those customs continue to shape Norwegian culture today.

Standing Before the Swords in Stone

Another unforgettable stop was Sverd i Fjell near Stavanger.

The three giant swords standing proudly beside the water commemorate the historic Battle of Hafrsfjord, when Norway was united under one king. While the history itself is fascinating, what stayed with us most was the peaceful setting surrounding the monument.

It became a wonderful opportunity to talk with our children about courage, leadership, and the importance of working toward peace instead of conflict. Sometimes the places we visit become the starting point for conversations that continue long after the trip ends.

A Garden Like No Other at Flor & Fjære

One of the most surprising experiences was visiting Flor & Fjære.

After a short boat ride, we arrived at a colorful island filled with stunning gardens, vibrant flowers, and beautiful walking paths. It felt like discovering a hidden paradise.

Our children loved exploring every corner, spotting butterflies, and simply running through the gardens. It reminded us that kids do not always need amusement parks or busy attractions. Sometimes nature provides the greatest adventure of all.

The peaceful atmosphere encouraged us to slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the simple beauty around us.

Traveling through Norway reminded us that heritage is not just something we read about in books. It is something we experience together.
